This year I am going to be taking part in Caffeinated Reviewer’s Ho Ho Ho Readathon between the 9th and 18th of November!
So, it’s about time I set my intentions!
I love Christmas, it’s my favourite holiday as it means family, giving, food and making great memories! Although I am a believer that if you start Christmas too early it ruins the magic, I do still love to watch the odd Christmas movie in the build-up to Christmas to get in the spirit and build the anticipation. And this year, I thought I might read a couple of books too, and I thought I’d take part in my first readathon as motivation! I have had a Christmas book sat on my shelf for ages, but December is always so busy for me that I never get time to read it. This year will hopefully be different.
Here are a few books that I plan to read, although I will probably only get through one or two as I am a relatively slow reader.
First up, the book that’s been sat on my shelf for years that I have been dying to read. I always run out of time in December then it just doesn’t feel right reading it after Christmas is over or too early before the next Christmas. But November should be okay, right? Christmas with the Kranks is my FAVOURITE Christmas movie (alongside the Grinch!) so I am so hyped to read the book it’s based on at last! Also, we have about three hundred million John Grisham books in the library I work at (crime and thriller is the most popular genre with the locals) so I am curious to finally read something he’s written.
Skipping Christmas | John Grisham | 06/11/2006 | Goodreads
Imagine a year without Christmas. No crowded shops, no corny office parties, no fruitcakes, no unwanted presents. That’s just what Luther and Nora Krank have in mind when they decide that, just this once, they’ll skip the holiday altogether. Theirs will be the only house on the street without a rooftop Frosty the snowman; they won’t be hosting their annual Christmas Eve bash; they aren’t even going to have a tree. They won’t need one, because come December 25 they’re setting sail on a Caribbean cruise. But, as this weary couple is about to discover, skipping Christmas brings enormous consequences – and isn’t half as easy as they’d imagined.
A classic tale for modern times, Skipping Christmas offers a hilarious look at the chaos and frenzy that has become part of our holiday tradition.
Next are a series of books that I requested from Netgallery. If I can’t read them all over the period of the Readathon (which I won’t be able to) I am still planning to read them all by Christmas if I can.
